A compelling casting headshot is a necessity in today’s noisy entertainment world. A representation of you that cuts through, commands a casting director’s attention, and prompts further interest in you and your craft is the minimum needed. Yes, there are more outlets now with the advent and popular growth of streaming services, but equally, you are up against many other fellow actors and dancers for those parts.
My actor and dancer headshot services are aimed at sympathetically revealing the you that should be hired, in a relaxed session, utilising techniques to showcase the best side of you for your acting and/or dancing career ambitions.
After many hundreds of sessions, I have an in-depth understanding of how to unlock the innate photogenic side of people. Let me guide you to the kind of headshots you’ve always wanted.
Actor Headshots for Performers at Every Stage
I work with actors and performers at all stages of their careers, including:
-
Emerging and student actors
-
Working professionals updating portfolios
-
Performers returning to casting after a break
-
Actors needing refreshed headshots for agents or submissions
Whether this is your first professional headshot session or an update to existing material, the goal is the same: to produce clear, honest images that represent you accurately and give casting professionals what they need to see.
How an Actor Headshot Session Works
Actor headshot sessions are relaxed, structured, and collaborative.
Before the shoot, we’ll discuss how the images will be used and what styles you need — for example, clean neutral looks, subtle character variations, or a small range of expressions suitable for different casting briefs.
During the session, I provide clear direction throughout. This includes guidance on posture, expression, eye-line, and movement, helping you stay natural rather than overthinking poses. We work steadily, allowing you to settle into the shoot and explore subtle variations without rushing.
After the session, you’ll select your preferred images, which are then professionally retouched and delivered digitally in formats suitable for casting platforms and portfolios.
Style, Lighting & Retouching
Actor headshots should feel honest and believable. Lighting is kept clean and controlled to ensure your features are clearly visible and expressions read naturally. The focus is always on you, not the background or lighting effects.
Retouching is subtle and casting-appropriate. Temporary distractions are removed, but texture, lines, and character are preserved. The final images should look like you on your best day — not overly polished or artificial.
This approach ensures your headshots remain credible and useful across a wide range of casting contexts.

Why Actors Choose to Work With Me
Many actors feel uncomfortable in front of the camera — particularly when the stakes feel high. My approach is calm, supportive, and practical, designed to help you relax and focus on subtle performance rather than posing.
Clients often tell me they value the clear direction, unpressured environment, and natural results. The aim is not to create “dramatic” images, but reliable, professional headshots that casting professionals can trust.
If you’re looking for actor headshots in Leeds or West Yorkshire and want images that feel authentic, confident, and fit for casting use, I’d be happy to help.
